ALDI Mamia Adds to its Award-Winning Organic Food Range

ALDI’s baby and toddler brand Mamia is launching new products to join its award-winning 100% organic baby food range this month. The range includes fruit pouches, pots and juice that can be enjoyed at home or when out and about and the products are available in ALDI stores across the UK now.

Value for money is always important and these products start at just 59p which is great news for mums and dads as this saves them as much as 69% against branded alternatives.

The products have been developed in response to the needs of real mums and dads with the ongoing support of the Mamia Parent Panel. ALDI ’s Baby & Toddler range is trusted by parents across the country for its quality and unbeatable prices. I’m particularly fond of the fact that the range is 100% organic as this is important to me.

The new range includes:

Mamia Organic Apple & Pear Fruit Pots – Stage 1, £0.85 for 4x100g

Little ones can now enjoy Apple & Pear fruit purée in a handy pot. 100% organic, with no added salt, sugar or preservatives, this is the perfect healthy fruit treat for babies who are moving onto solids.

Fruit pots are so handy to keep in the house for quick smoothies or snacks just as they are. They can also be added to yoghurt.

Mamia Organic Apple & Blackcurrant Juice, suitable for 6+ months, £0.79 for 500ml

Keep your little ones refreshed and hydrated with Mamia’s brand new, ready-to-drink Apple and Blackcurrant Juice, containing natural spring water. Blended with subtle fruit flavours, it’s ideal for introducing babies to new tastes and flavours. Again, it’s 100% organic and made without added sugar, artificial colours, flavours or preservatives.

We’ve tried this and it’s a delicious and refreshing drink. It’s not too sweet at all as it doesn’t contain any added sugar which I’m very happy about.

Mamia Organic Baby Food Pouches – Stage 1, £0.59 for 120g

Suitable for babies aged four months and over, these convenient little pouches are perfect for parents to use at home and when out and about on baby adventures. Available in a choice of two delicious flavours:  Mango, Apple & Banana and Sweet Potato, Butternut Squash, Apple and Blueberry, there’s something for even the fussiest of eaters.  The pouches are 100% organic and contain no thickeners, sugar or preservatives.

My daughter loves these! I especially like the Sweet Potato, Butternut Squash, Apple and Blueberry one as I think it’s a great idea to mix vegetables and fruits to get children enjoying vegetables in a tasty way.

We were sent the products in the first image to go with this post. As always, all my reviews are 100% honest and all thoughts and opinions are my own.

My Top Spring Cleaning Tips + Products to Make It All Easier

Spring is here and when the sun starts shining, you suddenly see all the dust! We are in the process of spring cleaning our house ready for our new arrival next month when we’ll be even busier than usual.

  1. Move Everything

To really get all the dust you need to move large pieces of furniture and clean behind and under them. This can take quite some time and it’s best to be at least two people so that you can lift together.

  1. Do a Deep Clean of your Bed

Wash all the sheets as usual, but also wash any mattress protectors/toppers, duvets and pillows. If your washing machine is too small to hold your duvet, you can take it to a launderette. Vacuum clean your mattress and flip it too. If there’s space under your bed make sure to vacuum there too.

  1. Clear out as you Clean

Keep bags available to organise things while you’re cleaning. One bag for the charity shop, one for the tip, one for rubbish, one for recycling, etc. The less stuff you have, the easier your house is to clean and keep tidy. This works for all areas of the house whether you’re cleaning the kitchen cupboards, your wardrobe, the bathroom or your bookshelves.

  1. Wash all the Windows on a Sunny Day

Wash all the windows in one go when you have a sunny, warm day. Use washing up liquid and water or a designated window cleaner and a soft cloth to wash the windows, then use a squeegee to get rid of water and dry with a clean cloth. Scrunched up newspaper is great for getting rid of any lines.

  1. Keep on Top of Things Daily and Weekly

To not make spring cleaning too big an event, try to keep on top of things throughout the week by tackling small jobs daily or weekly.

Things like taking out rubbish, wiping down worktops, tables, floors, cleaning the shower, bath, sink, mirrors, toilets, vacuuming the carpets and clearing away clutter as you go. One rule that you can give yourself is that if something takes less than two minutes to do, just do it straight away. My Top Spring Cleaning Tips + Handy Products to Make It All Easier A Mum Reviews

Vector Credit.

It may sound like a lot but there are many ways to make these everyday jobs easy and quick.

  • Keep bathroom cleaning products in the bathroom and kitchen cleaning products in the kitchen so that they’re always available in the correct room when you need them.
  • Do a quick tidy up at night before going to bed. Tidy up the living room and dust/polish the sofa table and clear the dishes in the kitchen and wipe down the surfaces and the sink with antibacterial spray. Whoever uses the shower/bath last each night can quickly spray it with a cleaning spray and rinse it off to keep it nice and clean.

  • Keep antibacterial wipes handy for quick clean ups. I love using these for our kitchen table and my toddler’s highchair and the floor underneath as she loves to play with Play Doh and it always goes everywhere. Using a wipe to clean it all up makes it really easy and quick. You can keep a pack upstairs and a pack downstairs.
  • Floor wipes are really handy for tiled floors and laminate floors. They’re larger and thicker and a brilliant for tackling dust and dirt.

  • Keep microfiber cleaning cloths upstairs and downstairs. They come in different colours so you can colour coordinate them for different jobs. Blue for the sink and bath, green for the living room, pink for mirrors etc. so that you don’t need to wash them after each use. Of course, they should be washed regularly. Microfiber is a very hygienic material that washes very well and dries quickly. They can be used dry, dampened with water or with cleaning products.

My Top Spring Cleaning Tips + Handy Products to Make It All Easier A Mum Reviews

  • Clean when you make a mess. If you spill something or make a mess of the cooker when cooking, just clean it up straight away. It’s always easier to get rid of mess when it’s fresh than when it’s all crusty and dry…
  • Put things away after using them to keep on top of clutter. This habit is really easy to get into and once your house is tidy you’ll want to keep it looking nice.
  • If you have kids or pets, vacuum your living room/play room daily to keep your carpet looking nice.
  • Use marigold gloves to protect your hands when you clean. Always use separate gloves for the bathroom and kitchen and wash/dry them between uses. Also use a washing up detergent that is kind to your hands if you don’t wear them when doing dishes.

Recipe: Delicious Halloumi & Portobello Mushroom Burgers

This is a really simple and tasty meal perfect for weekends or summery weeknights. It’s completely vegetarian, budget friendly and quite healthy too! I was inspired to make this at home after enjoying a similar burger when having dinner out with my husband. It’s a meal that requires very little time and effort so it’s ideal for even the busiest of us. Recipe: Delicious Halloumi & Portobello Mushroom Burgers A Mum Reviews

Halloumi & Portobello Mushroom Burgers with Spicy Sweet Potato Chunks

Ingredients (4 servings)

  • 4 Brioche Burger Buns
  • 2 Packets of Halloumi
  • 4 Portobello Mushrooms
  • 2 Large or 4 Small Sweet Potatoes
  • Lettuce
  • Tomatoes
  • Vegetable Oil
  • Ketchup
  • BBQ Sauce
  • Salt & Pepper
  • Spices or Herbs

Recipe: Delicious Halloumi & Portobello Mushroom Burgers A Mum Reviews

Method

  • Start by peeling the sweet potatoes and cutting them into thumb sized chunks. Parboil them for about 10 minutes until softened.
  • Clean or peel the Portobello mushrooms and put them on an oven tray.
  • Drain the sweet potatoes and drizzle over some vegetable oil and sprinkle with your favourite spices. I used a Caribbean spice mix this time but cayenne pepper or smoked paprika would be delicious too or simply some Italian herbs. Season with salt and pepper and add to the oven tray next to the mushrooms. Bake for 15-20 minutes at 200 degrees until the potatoes are cooked and have a bit of colour.
  • About 10 minutes before the potatoes are done, cut the two halloumi pieces in half to create four steaks. Fry in a little bit of oil or butter until beautifully golden.
  • Wash and prep the lettuce and the tomatoes and get the brioche burger buns out ready to assemble the burgers.

Recipe: Delicious Halloumi & Portobello Mushroom Burgers A Mum Reviews

  • To make a simple and quick dipping sauce for the sweet potato chunks or to add to the burger bun, mix ketchup with a spicy or smokey BBQ sauce.
  • Assemble the burgers and plate up the sweet potato chunks next to them and enjoy!

Recipe: Delicious Halloumi & Portobello Mushroom Burgers A Mum Reviews

These were so delicious! The soft brioche buns with the salty, squeaky halloumi and the flavoursome Portobello mushrooms make such a great combination. The sweet potato chunks are healthy and full of goodness and very tasty too. It’s definitely a meal that we’ll be making frequently this spring and summer!

This post is written in collaboration with Aldi. I was provided with a voucher to buy the ingredients for this recipe. The recipe is my own and all thoughts and opinions are my own too, as always.

ALDI sent us a hamper of Mamia products that can be useful during or after the event. We always use these nappies as they are the best on the market and often buy these wipes too as they’re gentle, efficient and affordable. My toddler still has food pouches (she loves these!) and we use fruit pots everyday to make quick smoothies. The baby juice is a healthier option to juice and does not contain any added sugar at all. It’s really tasty and can be enjoyed by adults too, of course. Perfect for days out walking and toddling! The shampoo is for when you get home and need a nice bath after an adventurous day! When is the Next ALDI Baby & Toddler Event? | My Shopping List!

I shop at ALDI several times a week. I have a shop close to where I live and they stock loads of products that I love to buy for my family. Plus, shopping there saves me quite a lot of money each week as nearly everything is more affordable than from the big supermarkets. One thing that I also really enjoy about shopping at ALDI is the fact that they do fun special buys every week too with different themes. My favourite is of course when they do Baby & Toddler Events with lots of great items for the kids at bargain prices. ALDI Baby & Toddler Event Spring 2015 Haul & Review A Mum Reviews

When is the Next ALDI Baby & Toddler Event?

The event comes back every few months and I’m always looking out for signs at the shop and check out the weekly leaflets with all the special buy information. If you’re not in store very often, it’s worth checking out the ALDI website to keep an eye on what special buys are coming up. It’s been a while now since the last event so I think there will be one very soon at least before the end of the summer.

  • UPDATE: ALDI have informed me that the Baby & Toddler Event is back on the 17th of August!

I have a few things that I’ve bought before from previous ALDI Baby & Toddler Events that I’m really happy with and that I’ll be keeping my eyes open for to buy in future Baby & Toddler Events and they are: When is the Next ALDI Baby & Toddler Event? | My Shopping List! A Mum Reviews
